Frage zur Story (Warnung offensichtlich Spoiler)

hab das Spiel jetzt durchgekaut und auch gegen Ende kam es nie zur der grossen Erleuchtung was da eigentlich im Spiel abgeht....

Vielleicht kann man ja hier ein paar unklare Aspekte des Spiels diskutieren....

Alleine das Ende war irgendwie so häh?

Rebecca (so heisst sie glaube ich?) Dämon mit Hörner der blut trinkt (wieso, warum und wer ist sie jetzt im Endeffekt? ) bekam von Sulivan den Quarz von Leanne ausgehändigt.

Sollte Sulivan was zu stossen sollte sie diesen Stein zerstören wohl offensichtlich als Erpressung. Nun erschiesst Rowen Sulivan. Sulivan erscheint aber später im Niemandsland und im Schluss....

man könnte annehemen es war wieder so ein Zentih wunder.... aber wieso? Fehler im System? Menschen deren Zeit noch nicht abgelaufen ist können die nicht sterben oder wie?

Selbst nach dem finalen Endkampf stehen alle Kardinäle wieder auf....

(auch von zenith gerettet was mir konkret was sagen soll? das man nicht gegen gott oder das system vorgehen kann?

Nun zerbricht rebbecca den quarz von leanne weil Sulivan es nicht rechtzeitig schafft.... der Logik des Spiels nach wäre leanne jetzt tot, obwohl sie ohnehin bereits tot sein sollte, was wiederrum der erste festgestellte fehler im System ist mit den dessen Hilfe man Zenith kontrollieren will.... oder so ähnlich.....

Nun leanne ist nicht tot sondern ihr quarz leuchtet ganz lustig in ihrer hand drin? ( / in Kapitel 6 gibt es eine kurze Sequenz eine kleine unbedeutende Geste die ihch nur beim 2ten playthrough beachtet habe: in dieser bedauert Yuri, Leannes Schicksal und tut das Einzige? was er für sie tun kann... nimmt ihr Hand und Endegelände mit dem Abschlussspruch, alles was sie braucht ist zum greifen nah....

mit einen bisschen Fanatasie kann man sich vorstellen das yuro da die quarz vertauscht hat, und deswegen sulivan komplett auf dem holzweg mit seiner theorie der wiedergeburt ist.... aber explizit sagst halt niemand....)

Fragen rund um Vashyron gibts auch: Was ist dieser Vorfall der Kardinal Anturio involviert? Irgendwas ist in den Ruinen von Luce passiert, wo Vashyron mit einem anderen partner von Rebbecca angegriffen wird...

Während dieser Sequenz spricht Rebbecca aber ein einziges mal: One of Zentih's knights is still alive?

Zentihs Knights? hab ich was verpasst? ein nicht offenbartes Geheimnis von Vashyron?

Dann bezüglich Zephyr und vorwiegend der introsequenz: Zephyr ist der typ der im intro druchdreht (Wieso?) er tötet dabei seine Schwester und so alles andere aus dem Waisenhaus... (wahnvorstellung dass wenn er den Tod anderer verursacht, muss gott es ja so gewolt haben der logik des spiels nach)

Dabei wird er von Vasyron gestoppt, hält im die knarre ins Maul und drückt ab.

offenkundig hat Zephy überlebt (wieder Fehlerkorrektur von Zentih?) er selbst weiss ja auch nicht wieso er am leben ist und er bereut es ebenfalls was er getan hat....

es erklärt aber nicht wieso er halt durchgedreht ist und wieso er danach der normalste Mensch der welt danach ist....

So nebenbei stürzen er und leanne sich im Prolog ja in die tiefe, wie haben sie das den überlebt? Zentihtrampolinwunder oder was? waehrend kapitel 9 erwaehnt zephyr in einem normalen mobkampf er meine er haette ein zeichen gesehen...

Ich habe keine Ahnung wie ich dem ganzen logik verpassen soll....

dabei macht ne gute Story doch auch ein gutes RPG aus

Lol, du hast genau alles angesprochen was mir auch zu denken gab.

Frag mich auch was dieses bluttrinkende Mädchen in dem Spiel überhaupt zu suchen hatte und ich hab mich auch gefragt warum Leanne nich tot ist, obwohl sie das Quarz von ihr zerstört.

Das alle Kardinäle wieder aufstehen hat mich zunächst auch gewundert. Bis mir dann einfiel das jeder Mensch ja ein bestimmtes Quarz oder sowas hat. Solange dies nicht zerstört wird, lebt die Person ewig. Allerdings frag ich mich woher kommt dieses komische Zeugs :emot-raise: Und dann hätte ich mir die Kämpfe ja auch sparen können wenn die doch eh nich tot sind^^

Ich frage mich noch warum Vashryon Zephyr bei sich aufgenommen hat obwohl dieser so schreckliche Dinge getan hat. Und was war mit Zephyr gewesen? War er vom Teufel besessen? Warum ist er jetzt so wie er jetzt ist und nicht mehr so wie damals?

Lol und der Prolog mit Zephyr und Leanne fand ich auch total komisch. Da fallen sie aus ner ungeheuren Höhe in die Tiefe und unterhalten sich, als wäre es das normalste und wie die beiden überlebt haben, hab ich mich auch schon gefragt^^

Den ganzen Kram mit Zenith und Gott, ewiges Leben hab ich irgendwie überhaupt nicht verstanden. Den Sinn in den einzelnen meisten Sequenzen hab ich irgendwie nich gerafft :emot-raise:

Das mit leanes quartz ist aber recht einfach finde ich, er wurde vertauscht und sie hat ihn die ganze zeit in ihrer hand. Das mit dem "einen jahr noch zu leben" war gemeint mit dem ende des experimentes wenn die quartze zerstört werden.

Irgendwie hab ich das gefühl das die echte hauptfigur rowen war, grade nach dem ende bekommt er quasi seine erleuchtung.

auch sullivan, der ja überlebt hat ist ja am ende außerhalb zeniths und da ist mir ein satz aufgegallen. er sagt zu rebecca " ich sehe jetzt was du siehst" als die blüten regnen, vielleicht das göttliche sehen.

direkt im prolog als man rebecca das erste mal sieht, will sie irgendwas fangen oder spielen. Das waren bestimtm diese blüten.

Rebecca ist denke ich ein experiemt mit der wiederbelebeung was ja oft angesprochen wird für die prälätin. Aber ging wohl etwas schief, deshalb brauch sie das blut um zu überleben.

Vielleicht war von Gott/Zenyth alles geplant nur damir rowen denn sinn des lebens versteht

Hmmmm auch keine schlechte Interpretation der Geschehnisse, man hat wenn man diese sache live sieht immer so dieser Häh?-Effekt und bei diesem Spiel ist es besonders schwierig sich danach noch nachhaltig einen Reim zu machen....

vieles passiert nur durch Andeutungen aber klare Aussagen trifft das Spiel nie, oder antworten auf mögliche Aspekte die den Spieler interessieren könnt gibt man nicht...

schade eigentlich wenn ein RPG eigentliche kein gute Geschichte bekommt, in dem Aspekt waren sie aber schon imemr schwach

hab hier was aus nem andern forum gefunden, paar sachen denke ich ja, paar sachen reininterpretiert, muss man bei dem spiel auch, aber ich hab keine anhaltspunkte auf seine aussagen gefunden

So wow. Just beat the game, and wanted to see if I could break down the plot. Curious if anybody else finds anything wrong with this analysis, and wants to fill in the plot holes with me. Here we go. Potential epileptic trees ahead.

First we begin with humans being forced into Basel. From what I can piece together, this was due to a disease wiping out most of humanity, like a cancer. The counter that was created to this was the city itself, and the Zenith system. Human lives were tied to quartz, making them immune to disease and mutation, but requiring them to remain in the city, and giving them a set shelf-life. I remember hearing that's about 100 years or so. People can still die from unnatural causes, but they are made incredibly durable, able to take clips and clips of bullets, and fall from great heights and still survive.

Then came the Prelate. She spoke of a world where people could live free of this quartz, and enjoy a life on their own terms. She pushed for the idea of a world where people would control their own destiny. Because of this preaching, she attracted the cardinals as followers, with Rowen as her closest friend and follower. Her ideas were appealing to people, but also radical, and she was unfortunately killed.

This drove Rowen into a fit of despair. He wanted to bring her back, as he loved her dearly. He discovered the truth of Zenith, and its powers over life and death, and wanted to exploit them to bring her back. He commissioned Sullivan to find a way to do this, and the experiments began. First they found 20 children, and began using the quartz to experiment on their lifespans and seeing the effects it had, ultimately setting their quartz to cause them to expire on a certain birthday. If they could control death, Sullivan believed, they could control life. Rowen didn't originally approve of these experiments, but he was willing to go to any length to discover a way to bring the Prelate back.

Unfortunately, a few things happened that gummed up the works. First, Juris took a liking to subject 20, and began to feel pangs of guilt over what they had done. Rather than kill her, he implanted her quartz within her body, essentially fooling the system and putting her life "in her own hands". Second, the White Haired Loli (WHL) emerged, and started causing trouble. This next part is all conjecture, but it makes sense...

With the disease ravaging humanity, there were many who simply would not fit into Basel, and were left outside to die. Most people died, but a precious few developed mutations to allow them to not only beat off the disease, but become incredibly strong and able to survive in this environment. They became effectively immortal, and the next sort of stage of human evolution...and they hated Basel and the Zenith system for abandoning them. The WHL attacked the city because of this fury, and slaughtered many of the people, until she got to Vashyron. Vashyron was a "Knight of Zenith"...a person blessed by the Zenith system to be able to survive even above and beyond the normal populace. When she attacked him, Zenith struck out against her, breaking her mind as well as saving his life. In this state Sullivan found her, and saw an opportunity. Sullivan dreamed of living outside of Basel, and this test subject would be perfect for his research. If he could copy her traits, he could free people from the place once and for all...so he took the now brain broken WHL in and began experimenting on her in a new set of experiments, involving 20 more children...of which Zephyr was one. His experiments wanted to create a strain of human completely independent of the Zenith system, and built on his former research.

Things went wrong again however when Zephyr escaped. He had been enhanced by the experiment with incredibly speed and strength, but he was angry at having his fate taken from him. He flew into a rage, killing those involved and blowing up the Seminary where the research was conducted. He expected to die for what he had done, and tried to commit suicide by hunter...only to be saved by Zenith itself after Vashyron shot him in the head...twice. He decided to live to try to figure out why he was spared, and worked for Vashyron.

Several years later, Leanne was nearing the time of her appointed death after running away. She attempted to kill herself, wanting to die on her own terms, only to have Zephyr catch her in the air and use his own incredibly durable body to cushion her fall and save her life. In her, he found a reason for living. She became the reason that "God"(Zenith) spared his life, and he had to care for her. Meanwhile, she lived on, despite Rowen saying she would not, because her quartz was in her body.

So now we're at the start of the game. Things happen, jobs are done, and Sullivan is taking the research that has been conducted and making the ultimate tool...something to control Zenith. He takes Rowen's ring, and binds the control system into it, eventually providing him with control over life and death in Basel. With this incredible power coming to him, Rowen has a few crisis of faith, as he is going from following God to being God himself. If God can be controlled, than his faith is being shaken to the core. This is why he gets more depressed and angsty as the game goes on. Meanwhile, Sullivan is studying the WHL to find a way for humans to live utterly apart from Zenith...in secret. Their goals are both in line with the late Prelate to an extent, but different methods. Rowen seeks to control Zenith, while Sullivan seeks to leave it entirely.

Things come to a head as the game advances due to one main factor. When Leanne walks past Rowen at Christmas, and he realizes she's alive. This causes his internal issues to come to a head as she shouldn't be if Zenith can be truly controlled as Sullivan has said. He wants to believe...he NEEDS to believe that there truly is a God beyond Zenith, and sees her continued existence as proof of that possibility...or perhaps Sullivan just lied to him about the experiments. He needs to know which one is correct, so he goes to hunt Sullivan down and get answers.

This leads to the scene where Rowen shoots Sullivan. He overhears Sullivan telling the party that he has her quartz, and if he is killed her quartz will be destroyed and she will die. He shoots Sullivan, expecting her to die shortly after due to this, and prove that there is no God, or live, and validate the existence of God. This of course sets Zephyr on a roaring rampage of revenge, as his reason for existence has just been effectively killed in front of his eyes, and he swears to hunt Rowen down and kill him. Of course both groups are being played by Sullivan who has no fucking clue where Leanne's quartz is...but he wants Rowen to go through with the Zenith control system's usage, and realize that his God is false.

Rowen meanwhile has gone bumfuck insane. He gathers his forces into the Basillica, waits for the party to come kill him, and rants about how if God wants to stop it to step in and do so. He is attempting to force God's hand, and validate his faith. The party fights their way to him, confronts him, and ultimately defeats him, with Zephyr putting a bullet through his heart...but he lives...due to his own control of Zenith. He realizes that the experiment was a success, due to his survival, and uses the power of Zenith to ensure the survival of the other Cardinals. Vashyron recognizes the symbol, and has the party just leave, realizing that fighting is futile given the power Rowen wields.

Meanwhile the WHL destroys the quartz she was given. This quartz was actually Sullivan's own quartz, as he had succeeded in his second experiment. His own life was no longer bound by Zenith, and he was now able to roam the world and see it as the WHL had. Rowen realizes that his faith was misplaced, and discards the ring, realizing what a fool he has been worshiping a glorified computer as a God...and focuses his research on the same direction Sullivan had been going. Most likely he had some notes left behind by Sullivan to assist with this.

The story ends with Leanne looking into the sky, with Zephyr and Vashyron with her, outside of Basel. Most likely this is a few years later after the research has freed people from the effects of Basel, and the crew is the first human crew to go out and being colonizing the world and making it safe for humans again...after all they're the biggest badasses there.
