My english is also really bad. I have only 2 Points in the englishtest. I like latin, but I think it would be to difficult to talk about games in latin.

The second place where I am confronted with english is my playstation. The software does not work right. All languages are lost except english (UK and US-Version). That is the reason why I have to play the most games in english. Only Uncharted 1,2,3 and Heavenly Sword are still german. And Tomb Raider Anniversary keep the german undertitels, but the spoken language is english. These softwareproblem makes it sometimes really difficult for me. For example in Alpha Protocoll is the english so difficult, that I can not play it, because I do not understand anything.

And of course the PSone Games are still german if they were german.

I tried a lot to bring german back to my playstation 3. But nothing worked. I understand the most games.

I have "Profiloberstufe". There are no "Leistungskurse" any more. My profil is Biologie, Chemistry, Religion. Biologie and Chemistry have nearly the "Leistungskurs"level. And than there are the "Kernfächer". German, math and "weitergeführte Fremdsprache" (English, French or Latin). But for a Latincourse there were not enough pupils. So I had to choose english, because I never had french. German and math on upper level and english on lower level.

13 points are good. My best result was 11 points. And this in math. Last halfyear I had 2 Points, less than in english. In "Mittelstufe" math was with chemistry and physics my best subjects. Chemistry is still a good subject. But physics was so bad that I did not choose this subject. And now math is good again.

I am a bit nervous, because on 25th of January I have to write in math "Abitur". German on Third. And at my school there are only 12 classes. But I had, when I have my "Abitur" 13 classes, because I was two times in 10.

I do not like it that I can not choose the language.

And I also have to read any undertitel if there are some.

But one thing is good that my playstation has no german. Now it is equal if I buy the UK or the german version. It is often much cheaper than in Germany.

I also do not like the german schoolsystem, but I can not change it, so I have to accept it.

I read "Brave new world" in school I must say, that I like it very much. Actually, I've read it a couple of times even after I had finished school :D

The books which I had to read for the englishlessons I read in german.

I the german title of "Brave new world" "Schöne neue Welt". If that is right, I know it also but in german. We read in germanlesson.

Did you read the book?

The german title fits to german book, because the german thinking is different so the english/american.

I would say that it is difficult to translate a booktitle, because the thinking (and the culture) ist different between different nations.

If you want to practise your english and talk about gaming you may want to take a look at this site: https://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/

Nevertheless some of you probably prefer to talk with people they already know.

Thanks for this site. I do not know if its to difficult for me, but my playstation is english and so it will be easier for me to read the trophyguide in english.

Sometimes I have problems to combine the german guide to the english trophyname. Some trophylists are german and english. Thats sometimes fun. Some old lists are still german, but the new lists are in english. Also when the game is german.

We're reading a book too, it's from William Shakespear and it's very complicated and challenging :D it's called "a midsummer night's dream" :D

We will also read it, but I will go to the library and rent the german version.

I conclude from this that you're in the eleventh or twelth class too :D

You are right. I am in the twleth class. In the last two weeks I wrote my examination. German, Math and Chemistry. No english, no other language.

So, how did it go?

It was difficult, but I think no subject has less than 5 points.

German and math were easier than I thougt before.

Chemistry was difficulter than I thougt, but I wrote to every question an answer.

On 19th of April we get our marks. I hope they will be goog.

My english ist aceptable, but it is not my favourite language.

I like the brazilian version of portuges. Or spanish. Completely different is polish, but I like this language also.

Other languages are not my personal favourites because I prefer to understand it.

I always use subtitels, no matter if it is german or english. If there are no subtitels, I do not like the game. The volume is very silent, because music and sound are often very loud, much more than spoken language and there are many games which do not have the option of different volumelevels.

The most games I play in english but if I started the series in german I stay with german. It is the same with movies and shows. If I watched at first the german version I prefer the german version, the same with english. There are very few exceptions. For example the TV-Series "Burn Notice" where I prefer the english version, although I have started with the german one, the same with the "Tomb Raider" - Games. (They had in the past even good german speakers, but that changed in 2013. They decided for a horrible speaker with an annoying voice.)

Sometimes I have to change. I like documentaries like "Mayday" or "Seconds from disaster". They will be on youtube also in german in some time, but I do not want to wait. Then I watch it in english. A fun fast it is now, that I know a lot about planes and how they work, but I can not explain it in german.

Which lead now to my biggest problem with languages: I can understand, speak and use the language, in a higher or lower level, but I can NOT translate it.

When I am using a language I am thinking in this language. (It was often very funny, when a was younger and we had visitors from a diffenrent country. I liked the kids, who did not speak german and so it was a fast decision to use english. After a few minutes I spoke english with every person, even with my parents and I did not reliazed it.)
